The Importance of Fellowship
The church is a divine entity established by the Lord Jesus himself as He stated in Matthew 16:18, “Upon this rock I build my church and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it.”
Five Key Ministries of Churches:
Discipleship – teaching (Matt. 28:19)
Fellowship – gathering (Heb. 10:25)
Worship – glory (Acts 5:14)
Evangelism – growing (Acts 5:14)
Ministry – serving (Act 4:29-31)
Fellowship; (Greek word – Koinonia) is a transliterated form of the Greek word κοινωνία, which refers to concepts such as communion or fellowship, joint participation, the share which one has in anything, a gift jointly contributed, a collection, a contribution.
Satan always seeks to capitalize on our vulnerabilities. He knows fellowship is a vital part of our Christian life. Why do we need fellowship?
Confess our faults (Jas. 5:16).
Rebuke sin in each other (Eph. 5:11; 1 Tim. 5:20).
Forgive one another (2 Cor. 2:6, 8; Eph. 4:32; Col. 3:13).
Bear one another’s burdens (Gal. 6:2).
Gently restore one another (Gal. 6:1).
Prefer the weaker brother (Rom. 14:13; 15:1).
Comfort and exhort each other (1 Thess. 4:18; 5:11).
Pray one for another (Jas. 5:16).
Edify one another (Rom. 14:19; Heb. 10:24).
Admonish one another (Rom. 15:14; Col. 3:16).
It is to care for its own in time of need. (2 Cor. 8, 9; 1 Tim. 5:1-16; Jas. 1:27).
